Act and Regulations
VBS was established under the Bureau of Standards Act No. 14 of 2016, which sets out our mandate, functions, and powers.
The Act covers:
- Development and adoption of national standards.
- Accreditation of testing, certification, and inspection bodies.
- Enforcement actions against unsafe or non-compliant products.
Pursuant to COM Decision No. 51 of 2025, the Vanuatu Bureau of Standards (VBS) is mandated as the official regulator of all Government-operated packhouses, thereby positioning the Bureau at the forefront of all national export activities.
