Inspections Services
The Inspection Services of the Vanuatu Bureau of Standards (VBS) provide independent verification that goods, processes, and practices comply with mandatory standards and technical regulations. As outlined in the Bureau of Standards Act No. 14 of 2016, inspectors are empowered to ensure that commodities entering or circulating within Vanuatu meet requirements for health, safety, quality, and environmental protection.
Inspection services include:
- Market surveillance of commodities sold locally
- Verification of imported and exported goods against against relevant approved Standards, Regulatory requirements, approved Criteria, etc...
- Assessment of production processes and facilities for compliance
- Support to regulators in enforcing mandatory standards
- Inspecting raw materials, ingredients, packaging, labelling, production facilities
Through its inspection role, the Bureau strengthens consumer confidence, protects public health, and promotes fair competition, while enabling Vanuatu’s producers and exporters to maintain access to trusted markets.
